While it seems that the days are warming up, it's not too late to load up the sleds and head into the snowy mountains above Cle Elum. With over 600 miles of groomed trails, there are rides for every age and experience level.

The 11-mile Lake Easton trail offers a campground, often used as a basecamp for short excursions. Salmon La Sac's 38-mile trail has scenic viewpoints for riders to stop at along the way. Riders looking for a more adventurous and lengthy ride will want to check out the Crystal Springs trail; the 51 mile trail is eight miles east of the Snoqualmie Summit, so bundle up for this long ride. Businesses such as Motor Toys of Cle Elum (www.motortoysofcleelum.com) and The Last Resort (www.thelastresortwa.com) offer guided snowmobile tours and rentals.

As always, be sure to check with Washington state Parks' winter recreation program for information on Sno-Park Permits, avalanche control and weather conditions. Stop in at the Cle Elum Visitor's center for maps, trail guides and locals' suggestions. Happy sledding!
