Destination Cle Elum: | Cle Elum, WA

Looking to get away with that special someone for Valentine's Day, or just wanting to get away for the weekend? Well, no need to travel far, Cle Elum has some great spots for a staycation. No matter what the budget, there is an option for you.

For those who love unique destinations with lots of history, check out the Aster Inn and Antiques. This motel has nearly a hundred years of history within the community and its own antique store for guests who want to do a little shopping during their stay. The inn is on the corner of 1st Street and Montgomery, just down the road from several restaurants and cafés. It has a variety of rooms and according to the website and each room is unique. You won't find any of the cookie cutter rooms of bigger hotels here. There are rooms with jacuzzi and jetted tubs, a claw foot tub and family suites for those who want some privacy from their families. Also fill free to bring along Fido on your trip, as this inn is dog friendly (though in their words "cats, wombats and giraffes are not allowed"). For more information and some laughs, head to their website.

Even more history awaits guests at the Iron Horse Inn Bed & Breakfast, this inn has been around since the early 1900s and is on the National Register for Historic Places. The railroad has played an important part in the history of Cle Elum, when the Milwaukee Road built its transcontinental tracks to the south side of the Yakima River. Cle Elum became a booming stop for people working and travelling on the railroad and when the railroad shut down the people remained. The inn keeps that history alive with its collection of railroad memorabilia and historic caboose cars that have been repurposed into rooms for guests. Each of the cars is named after a railroad crewman who stayed at the inn. There are only 7 indoor rooms at this B&B (not including the caboose cars); three economic rooms share two bathrooms on one side of the building, and four rooms with private bathrooms on the other side. If you are really looking to treat yourself you can reserve the Brady Suite which includes a jetted bathtub.

If you really want to treat yourself and that special someone to a luxurious Valentine's trip, book a room at Suncadia Resort. This resort hotel has something for everyone with a spa, restaurants and plenty of winter activities, guests will be anything but bored here. Suncadia is a pricey stay but the views and experiences will stay with you even after you leave.

Have a great stay!
