Nestled in the mountains of Central Washington, Cle Elum is a town that boasts adventure in every way imaginable. Starting off as a quaint mining and logging town, it sure has grown and evolved since its beginnings. Nevertheless, this charming town is rooted in its history, and you are bound to experience the local traditions and customs during your visit.
The city was incorporated in 1902, but its name pays tribute to the Kittitas tribe which resided here before its incorporation. The name means swift water. Currently, the city's population is nearly 2,000 and, though outdoor ventures are a focal point, there are tons of fun activities that you can participate in with the locals right in our downtown core. Whether you call as you plan or make it your first stop when you arrive, here's why you should consult the Visitor Center for local advice during a visit to Cle Elum!
Cle Elum Visitor Center
The staff at the Visitor Center are very knowledgeable and friendly. It is their pleasure to help you make the best out of your trip and leave you coming back over and over again. Located at the corner of 312 West 1st St. in downtown Cle Elum, the Visitor Center has guides, brochures, permits, maps, and more. In a cordial atmosphere, our staff can give you local advice including letting you know which recreation locations require Discover Passes, great dining options, driving directions, as well as places you can stay at. The Visitor Center is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and it is closed on Sundays.
